Indonesia has experienced over 11 million cyberattacks in the first quarter of 2022, a 22 percent increase from the previous year. The National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) reported that from January 2023 to July 2023, there were more than 204 million suspicious internet activities in Indonesia. Government agencies, representing 22 percent of total attacks on organizations, and industrial companies at 9 percent, are the most common targets of cyberattacks in Indonesia.
The cybersecurity market in Indonesia is expected to continue growing in the coming years, projected to increase from US$2.05 billion in 2023 to $3.39 billion in 2028. The Indonesian government has introduced new cybersecurity regulations for the financial sector, including banks, insurance companies and other financial service providers. These regulations cover various areas, including risk assessment, risk management, data protection, incident response planning and employee capacity.
