s part of the continuous efforts by the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP) to uphold the values of unity in diversity through education, the agency has invited teachers from 38 provinces throughout Indonesia.

Through the Directorate of Education and Training, the BPIP held an event, entitled "Education and training (diklat) for PIP teachers based on the main textbook of national level Pancasila education for Pancasila education teachers for primary and secondary education level batch II 2023", on Nov. 21.

"As teachers are, of course, the front guard who will maintain the existence of the Indonesian nation. Ladies and gentlemen, we need to always convey to our children how this nation was founded and what this nation and state were founded for,” said deputy head of the BPIP, Rima Agristina, as she opened the event.

Rima emphasized that the ideology should always be instilled in the nation’s children, in order for the values to be implemented in society. She further added that according to Presidential Decree No. 24/2016 on the birth of Pancasila, the origins of Pancasila must be understood by the people to ensure the preservation and permanence of the ideology.

"We must not neglect to teach all our students from an early age, where they come from, why we are united as one nation and how we fulfill our independence and where we will go to achieve the goals we will achieve together," she added.

Rima also revealed that the BPIP, together with the Education, Culture, Research and Technology Ministry, has prepared a textbook for Pancasila education to be a blueprint for educators throughout Indonesia. The reference book was launched in August of this year.

Furthermore, she encouraged participants in the event to access the book online or through the ministry’s Book Center. Given the various challenges today, she believes that it is vital for the Pancasila education approach to be adapted as a solution.

While the textbook will outline the context of the ideology, the BPIP will also combine as much as 70 percent of the course based on practice to invite students to explore more about Indonesia.

"We need to make our children aware and strengthen them so that they are not lulled by all the comforts of freedom. We’ll build their work ethic, their integrity and mutual cooperation between them, the three words mentioned above are the essence of the Mental Revolution, which is Pancasila in action," she said.

.

In line with that, the director of education and training implementation at the BPIP, Sadono Sriharjo, said that the implementation of the training was intended to increase the capacity and capability of participants in utilizing the main Pancasila education textbook in the learning process.

"It is hoped that after the training, we will be able to transmit these capacities and capabilities to fellow Pancasila education teachers at the primary and secondary education levels," he said.

To ensure that educators can meet the satisfactory level of capability, Sadono said that training would be carried out by competent persons and facilitators, in addition to general, core and supporting materials.

"All participants in this activity will take part in the entire active learning material for the development of Pancasila ideology today, Nov. 21 to 23, offline and online for independent learning using the available Pancasila education BTU-based PIP teacher training LMS," he explained.

The event was attended by the deputy for education and training Tonny Agung Arifianto, the chancellor of the State University of Malang Hariyono, postgraduate director of UIN Alauddin Makassar Muhammad Yaumi, academician at Nusa Putra University, Sukabumi, Giri Verianty, Center for Curriculum and Books, Education and Culture Ministry, Yayat Suryatna, director of the Center for the Study of Pancasila Thought, MPR RI, expert Syaiful Arif and the Pancasila Education BTU preparation team.
