ASPEK Indonesia has called for a boycott of the doughnut chain to pressure the board of sub-franchisor Dunkindo Lestari into rehiring 35 laid-off workers.
he Association of Indonesian Trade Unions (ASPEK Indonesia) has asked that Manpower Minister Ida Fauziah sanction PT Dunkindo Lestari over allegations that it did not make timely payments of holiday bonuses (THR) during Idul Fitri in 2021 and 2022.
Dunkindo Lestari is the local sub-franchisor of United States coffee and doughnut chain Dunkin’ Donuts.
In a press release published on the ASPEK Indonesia website on Wednesday, the association also called for a boycott of all Dunkin’ Donuts outlets to pressure the company’s board over the reported layoff of 35 employees.
Dunkindo Lestari was not immediately available for comment when contacted by The Jakarta Post on Wednesday.
“ASPEK Indonesia will continue the ‘Boycott Dunkin' Donuts!’ [campaign] by involving the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI) until there is certainty that the workers will be rehired and be paid their wages as well as THR at the time of their unilateral dismissal,” ASPEK Indonesia president Mirah Sumirat said in the press release.
