rivers of ride-hailing-application companies welcome newly announced fare readjustments with open arms, believing the measure will benefit them, especially since the Transportation Ministry has not revised the regulation for years.

In that regard, the Land Transportation Directorate General of Transportation Ministry has just imposed a new ceiling and floor price for two-wheeled online-ride-hailing services, urging related companies to adjust with the new fares immediately within the 10-day timespan the ministry provided.

“With the fares readjustment, [ride-hailing] application companies are mandated to undergo the improvement of service standard while maintaining the assurance of safety and security,” the ministry announced via press release on Monday.

The new price is regulated under Transportation Ministerial Decree No. KP 564/2022 concerning directive of motorcycle service-fares calculation.

“In [this new ministerial decree], we have evaluated the newest ojek online [online motorcycle taxi] fares margin. Apart from that, three zones of zoning system still apply,” said Land Transportation Director General Hendro Sugiatno.

The first zone covering Sumatra, Java (excluding Jakarta Greater Area) and Bali has the floor price of Rp 1,850 (US$0.12) and ceiling price of Rp 2,300 per kilometer with a minimum service-fares margin of Rp 9,250 to Rp 11,500.
