The agreement will allow Chaevi to expand its exports of EV charging equipment to Indonesia through Indika affiliate PT Energi Makmur Buana (EMB), which will act as a local distributor.
omegrown mining giant Indika Energy has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with South Korean electric vehicle (EV) charging company Daeyoung Chaevi to expand the distribution of charging infrastructure in Indonesia.
The agreement will allow Chaevi to expand its exports of EV charging equipment to Indonesia through Indika affiliate PT Energi Makmur Buana (EMB), which will act as a local distributor.
"It is hoped that this deal between Indika and Chaevi will bolster [the development] of EV facilities and infrastructure in the country," said Purbaja Pantja, director and group chief investment officer at Indika Energy, in a statement on Monday.
EMB has facilitated the distribution of fast and ultra-fast chargers for EV buses in Indonesia since 2020, and the new agreement intends to add slow, fast and ultra-fast chargers for other four-wheeled EVs as well.
In February, both companies extended their distribution partnership for the next two years.
According to a statement, Chaevi's ultra-fast charger will be sent to large transportation hubs, as the country is pushing for more public EV charging stations.
