The IDX Composite dropped by 0.58 percent to 6,804.10, with most key sectors weakening.
he Indonesian Stock Exchange (IDX) Composite index closed lower for the second consecutive day on Wednesday, falling by 0.58 percent, or 39.68 points, to 6,804.10.
Ten sectors weakened on the index, while one remained in the black. The raw goods sector experienced the most substantial drop, falling by 1.55 percent. Meanwhile, the energy and industrial sectors lost 1.45 percent and 0.91 percent, respectively. Bucking the trend, the health sector was up 0.69 percent.
The day's trading activity saw 186 stocks strengthening, 356 stocks weakening and 211 stocks remaining stable.
The day’s total trading volume was 18.91 billion shares, totaling Rp 8.25 trillion (US$528 million). Meanwhile, the total market capitalization was reported at Rp 10.63 trillion.
The most actively traded stock in the session was PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BBRI), with a transaction value of Rp 452.2 billion ($28.94 million) at closing.
Among the top gainers in the LQ45 were PT Mitra Adiperkasa (MAPI), rising by 3.44 percent; PT XL Axiata (EXCL), up 2.37 percent; and PT Charoen Pokphand Indonesia (CPIN), up 2.25 percent.
Meanwhile, the top losers in the LQ45 were PT Merdeka Copper Gold (MDKA), which dropped 5.98 percent; PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGAS), down 5.79 percent; and PT Medco Energi Internasional (MEDC), which fell 3.33 percent.
