IDX Composite ends trading week on positive note, rising 0.28%

The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) Composite index rose 0.28 percent on Friday to close out the trading week.

he Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) Composite index rose 0.28 percent, or 19.66 points, on Friday to 6,977.67 to close out the trading week. 

Over the week, the index increased 2.47 percent, and year-to-date, it was up 1.85 percent.

The total volume of stock transactions on Friday was 14.53 billion shares with a value of Rp 8.46 trillion (US$549 million). Of the listed stocks, 319 declined, 213 gained and 215 remained unchanged.

Despite the Composite’s overall positivity, eight out of eleven sectoral indices experienced setbacks, with the technology sector leading the decline by losing 0.95 percent. The industrial sector followed with a 0.83 percent dip, while transportation and logistics fell by 0.45 percent.

The property and real estate sector was down 0.32 percent, primary consumer goods by 0.26 percent and energy by 0.15 percent. The financial sector and non-primary consumer goods edged down by 0.08 percent each.

The three sectors that gained in the session were infrastructure, raw goods and health, which rose by 4.34 percent, 0.94 percent, and 0.07 percent, respectively.

The LQ45, representing the 45 most liquid and tradable stocks, experienced a slight 0.44 percent decline to close at 916.37. The top gainers were PT Semen Indonesia (SMGR) with a 5.58 percent increase, PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (BRIS) with a 3.88 percent gain and PT Bank Tabungan Negara (BBTN) with a 3.61 percent rise.
