Garuda is expanding its network to the Middle East by announcing a new route to Doha with the first flight scheduled for April 4.
lag carrier Garuda Indonesia has begun selling tickets for its newest route, a direct daily flight to Doha’s Hamad International Airport starting on April 4.
The new route to Doha will add to the only other route flown by Garuda to the Middle East, the twice daily flights to King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Garuda president director Irfan Setiaputra said the airline was pleased to be able to add Doha to its global network.
“There are strong business, tourism and cultural ties between Indonesia and Qatar, and we believe this new service will further boost those activities between the two countries, while offering easier access for travelers from Qatar to Indonesia, which is now one of the fastest-growing economic centers in the world,” he said in a press statement.
Irfan added that the new route was a significant milestone for Garuda as Indonesia’s national carrier, providing its passengers with a convenient gateway to Doha, the largest city and financial hub in the Gulf area.
Meanwhile, Qatar Airways Group chief executive officer Badr Mohammed al-Meer welcomed the launch of Garuda’s daily flight linking Jakarta with Doha.
“Indonesia is a country that has great potential and is one of our most important markets within the Qatar Airways global network,” he said in a statement.
