nline travel platform Traveloka is collaborating with the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) to expand its reach in the Asian tourism market.
“The collaboration between Traveloka and HKTB aims to reaffirm our commitment to promote global destinations on our platform and encourage our customers to try new things,” Traveloka president Caesar Indra said in a press release on Tuesday.
Traveloka has seen a surge in interest from Southeast Asian travelers looking to explore Hong Kong, with air ticket transactions nearly quadrupling in the last quarter of 2023. Most of the 3.7 million tourists who visited Hong Kong during that period came from Southeast Asia and East Asia.
Traveloka and the HKTB plan to work together to showcase Hong Kong's attractions on Traveloka's online platform.
The HKTB also plans to tailor its promotional efforts to different Southeast Asian markets as part of its wider strategy for 2024.
HKTB regional director for Southeast Asia Liew Chian Jia said the partnership would help stimulate the growth of Hong Kong’s tourism sector.
“We hope this partnership will not only attract more travelers from Southeast Asia to explore the charm of Hong Kong but also provide a positive boost for the aviation and hospitality industry in the region,” said Liew.
