Coretax would remain operational and taxpayers could still use the prevailing system to file their tax return, tax office says.
he House of Representatives has asked the Taxation Directorate General (DJP) to postpone the mandatory implementation of the Coretax system following taxpayers reports on problems and errors in the system.
House Commission XI head Mukhamad Misbakhun said on Monday that during the meeting with the DJP, nearly all factions had suggested to postpone the implementation amid concerns about the recurring system errors.
“But, how will we postpone it? This is something we need to reach a conclusion and agreement on with the government,” he said after a closed-door meeting with the DJP, as quoted by Bisnis.

Fully implemented at the start of 2025, Coretax is a new system that would automate various kinds of tax administration processes, which then could translate into improved compliance and increased revenue.
Taxpayers, both businesses and individuals, have raised concerns over the instability of the Coretax system, given the country is moving closer to the annual tax return filing deadline on March 31 for individuals and April 30 for businesses.
Lawmakers of House Commission XI, which oversees budget and finances, recommended postponing the full implementation of Coretax as it still required improvements and to allow the public to use the prevailing taxation system.
