he Transportation Ministry has vowed to monitor all airlines in Indonesia, especially those operating the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, following the recent Air India crash involving the aircraft.

According to the ministry’s Civil Aviation Directorate General, no domestic airlines operate the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, while 24 foreign airlines currently use the widebody aircraft on international routes to and from Indonesia.

The head of the ministry’s Airworthiness and Aircraft Operation Directorate, Sokhib Al Rokhman, said in a statement on Saturday that the ministry would continue to regularly monitor all airlines, including scheduled foreign airlines operating from and to the country.

“Our directorate general [...] will improve our supervision through ramp inspections, especially on international airlines using the Boeing 787 Dreamliner”, he stated.

Ramp checks are part of the ministry’s safety measures to ensure all aircraft in the country are in proper condition and meet international aviation safety standards.

Sokhib expressed condolences on behalf of the ministry’s Civil Aviation Directorate General to those impacted by the recent crash of a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner operated by Air India.
