View all search resultshe Industry Ministry plans to revise local content requirements (TKDN) following the recent trade agreement reached with the United States, in which Indonesia has agreed to remove TKDN requirements for US firms.
The ministry’s public relations head, Alexandra Arri Cahyani, said the new rules would be introduced through a ministerial regulation.
“We will reform the local content rules, and the minister [Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita] himself will [present] the new regulation,” she said on Monday, as quoted by Kompas.com.
Alexandra added that the regulation would be issued swiftly. She emphasized that the TKDN would remain in place, noting that the changes would only involve adjustments to reflect recent developments.
The new regulation would not only be designed to align the rules with the results of the Indonesia-US trade negotiation but also to make them effective for all countries, she added.

“There are many products [from other countries], so, if we only applied this to the [goods being imported from the] US, that would be discrimination,” Alexandra said, without divulging details on the planned regulation.
