escue teams from PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) continue their painstaking search for five missing workers following a devastating landslide at the Grasberg mine in Central Papua, after recovering two bodies on Saturday.

They have been identified as Wigih Hartono, 38, an electrician from Ponorogo regency, East Java, and Irawan, 46, from Cilacap regency, Central Java, both employed by maintenance contractor PT Citacontrac, headquartered in East Jakarta.

Seven workers became trapped underground on Sept. 8 when a mine collapsed due to a landslide.

After days of difficult searching, the rescue team discovered the bodies of Wigih and Irawan in a narrow, wet area at around 8:45 a.m. local time on Sept. 20.

Mimika Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Billyandha Hildiario Budiman said the bodies of both men were found intact under heavy debris.

Following autopsies, the remains of the workers were flown to their respective hometowns for burial.
