T Amman Mineral International revealed that its copper smelter in West Sumbawa regency, West Nusa Tenggara, has been out of operation since July 2025 due to a force majeure event.
Amman president director Arief Widyawan Sidarto said the disruption was caused by damage to the flash converting furnace, and sulfuric acid plant units.
“Since the end of July 2025, the operational activities of Amman’s smelter facilities have had to be temporarily suspended. We continue to operate the facilities cautiously, gradually increasing the processing capacity [utilization rate] toward the design parameters,” Arief said in a disclosure to the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) on Monday.
According to Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Regulation No. 6/2025 on the completion of domestic metal mineral refining facilities, in the event of a force majeure affecting a smelter under construction, holders of special mining business permits in the production stage are allowed to export processed products.
Due to the company’s inability to operate following the smelter damage, Amman’s subsidiary PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara has submitted a proposal for a concentrate export permit.
Arief noted, however, that the company was still waiting for the Energy Ministry’s recommendation, which would serve as the basis for the issuance of an export permit by the Trade Ministry.
“As of the date of this letter, the company is still awaiting the issuance of the export recommendation from the energy minister,” he said.
