The headline inflation rate slowed last month, with year-on-year (yoy) consumer price index (CPI) growth of 2.72 percent in November from 2.86 percent in the preceding month.
“The expenditure group with the largest monthly inflation was personal care and other services, with [monthly] inflation of 1.21 percent,” BPS deputy for distribution and services statistics Pudji Ismartini announced on Monday in a livestreamed press briefing.
This group contributed 0.09 percentage points to the overall monthly figure, primarily driven by a significant surge in gold jewelry prices, which alone contributed 0.08 percentage points.
Other notable contributors to November’s inflation was airfare, contributing 0.04 percentage points, and shallots, fresh fish and carrots.

Inflationary pressure was partially offset by deflation, or falling consumer prices, in several key food items. Broiler chicken prices fell, shaving 0.03 percentage points off the monthly CPI growth, while prices for rice and red chilies each pushed the figure down by 0.02 percentage points.
