State-owned oil and gas company Pertamina said the recent conflict has not affected its operations in Venezuela so far.
The firm, through its subsidiary PT Pertamina Internasional Eksplorasi dan Produksi (PIEP), is the majority shareholder of Maurel & Prom, which operates in the crisis-affected country.
PIEP said in a statement on Sunday that it is “monitoring the dynamics closely” as part of “a precautionary approach and the company’s commitment to ensuring safety and operational continuity”.
Jakarta and Caracas signed a memorandum of understanding in 2024 allowing Pertamina to develop upstream oil projects in Venezuela, which Coordinating Economy Minister Airlangga Hartarto said could be subject to changes “since the [Venezuelan] government is changing”.

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said on Monday that, economy-wise, the recent conflict’s impact on Indonesia has been limited. The most direct effect that escalating tension could have on the archipelago would be through oil prices, given that Indonesia is a net oil importer, but Venezuela accounts for only a marginal portion of global supply.
