A variety of holiday hamper ideas to help those in need of inspiration this jolly season.
Ny. Ali’s traditional feeling
In the midst of all the Western delicacies offered this festive season, Ny. Ali (Madame Ali), a traditional cake specialist since 1969, offers Christmas hampers full of traditional Indonesian sweets that aim to bring back nostalgic childhood memories.
Collaborating with Babagi Gifts - a brand that offers customized packaging for weddings and seserahan (meeting of the bride and groom’s families prior to the wedding day)- their hampers are presented using tampah (woven bamboo plate used by rice farmers) wrapped in traditional batik-pattern cloths, mimicking the art of Furoshiki (Japanese cloth wrapping).
The most-popular hamper, aptly called The Favourite, starting from Rp 395,000 (US$27) is made with a collection of brown and pink kue mangkok (steamed sponge cupcake) with grated coconut matched with a jar of nastar (pineapple tarts). Another hamper option from Ny. Ali is called Nostalgia, starting from Rp 485,000, comprises a jar of nastar, a glass jar of lidah kucing (finger cookies), a blirik (traditional green and white tin cup), and sachets of empon empon (herbal tea).
