Police arrested actor and singer-songwriter Ardhito Pramono on Wednesday for illegal drug use, with the drug confiscated being marijuana.
olice arrested actor and singer-songwriter Ardhito Pramono on Wednesday for illegal drug use, with the drug confiscated being marijuana, West Jakarta Police drug detective unit head Adj. Sr. Comr. Danang Setiyo has confirmed.
As of now, the drug detective unit is currently investigating Ardhito intensively for further information and possible motives.
"[The investigation] is still ongoing," Setiyo said on the same day, as quoted by CNNIndonesia.
West Jakarta Police chief Sr. Comr. Ady Wibowo first confirmed the news of the arrest of a celebrity identified only as AP in relation to illegal drug use.
"Yes, that's right, [we have] just arrested a public figure, feature film actor and singer-songwriter," Ady said in his statement on Wednesday.
Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. E Zulpan confirmed later that the public figure arrested was in fact Ardhito following much speculation online.
Previously, Adj. Sr. Comr. Danang Setiyo revealed that the jazz-pop singer, who rose to fame for his hit single “Bitterlove”, was arrested at his residence in East Jakarta. Setiyo promised to provide details of the case as soon as possible.
"We will inform you [of more details] in the near future, the unit is currently still investigating the arrest," he stated.
The 26-year-old singer and actor, most famous for his roles in 2020’s One Day We’ll Talk About Today and Story of Kale: When Someone's in Love, has openly shared about his drug addiction in the past. He revealed in a video on Gofar Hilman's YouTube channel in 2019 that he had been clean from drugs for the past four years.
"I have stopped [using drugs] for four years, clean," he said, lamenting how addictive it turned out to be for him. He also confessed in the video that one occasion he almost overdosed on antidepressants in the video.
