P

resident Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has praised two products made by customers of PT Permodalan Nasional Madani’s (PNM’s) Membina Ekonomi Keluarga Sejahtera (PNM Mekaar; Building Prosperous Household Economy) program for entering the export market.

"This is Basreng, fried meatballs, and I'm pleased with the excellent packaging, very impressive. The name Basreng is also good. And what makes me happy is that it has already been exported," the President told participants on Feb. 3, 2024, during an event for PNM Mekaar customers at the Sabilulungan Dome conference hall in Bandung regency, West Java.

Aside from Basreng, which has been exported to Malaysia, the other export product made by a PNM Mekaar customer is Peyek 6 Jagoan.

President Jokowi also praised the attractive packaging and competitive pricing, and expressed his belief that products with this level of quality had great marketing potential and could easily sell anywhere.

"So, what does this mean, ladies? The production is good with competitive pricing, making it [attractive]," he said.

In addition to presenting the two export products from PNM Mekaar customers, the President praised the excellent packaging of products from PNM Mekaar customers in Bandung regency.

PNM Mekaar customers generally come from modest households, and many use locally available raw materials in their products. This shows that empowered Indonesian women can contribute to the national economy through their ultra-micro enterprises.
