ndonesia is once again exhibiting at this year’s Hannover Messe, which runs from April 22 to 26 in Hanover, Germany. Themed “Energizing a Sustainable Industry”, the 2024 edition of the world’s leading industrial trade fair is poised to showcase innovation, technological advancements and international cooperation.

As part of the government’s Making Indonesia 4.0 campaign, Indonesia is participating in Hannover Messe 2024 by continuing its role as an official partner country of last year’s event. Indonesia’s participation also aims to strengthen the country’s position as a major player in global manufacturing and to boost exports, investment and industrial cooperation as an emerging economy.

"Through the Making Indonesia 4.0 program, Indonesia is targeting increased competitiveness in a number of key economic sectors, including electric vehicles, biofuels and renewable resources,” Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said in his speech at the Indonesia Pavilion in the morning of April 22, the opening day of Hannover Messe 2024.

The minister emphasized that Hannover Messe 2024 was a key opportunity for Indonesia to present its economic and technological strengths to the international community.

The Making Indonesia 4.0 road map is instrumental in facilitating the country’s economic transformation through innovation and technological developments. Moreover, the road map’s success relies on developing the downstream industry and promoting a green economy.

Through Making Indonesia 4, the government targets achieving 23 percent of renewable energy in the national energy mix by 2025. By 2040, it projects attracting total investments of US$545.3 billion for 21 commodities in the downstream industry and a decade later, the retirement of all coal-fired power plants in the country.

Realizing these targets require substantial investment and financing of at least US$1 trillion for the energy transition until 2060.

Indonesia continues to enter the global market through a range of groundbreaking products and industrial solutions, and nine companies from various industrial sectors are exhibiting in the Indonesia Pavilion at Hannover Messe 2024.

Indonesia's participation in this year’s fair signifies its commitment to the dynamic industrial landscape, growing economy and rapidly evolving innovation ecosystem on the global stage. With its diverse industries ranging from manufacturing to production technology and from energy to automation and information technology, Indonesia is ready to make a significant contribution to the international market at Hanover.

"To realize our vision of a smart and sustainable industry, we need strong a collaboration among various stakeholders, including industry players, the private sector, government, academic institutions and communities,” minister Agus underlined.

Such strong collaboration was necessary to invest in research and development, leverage the latest technology, implement best practices and drive sustainable environmental and technological progress across industrial sectors.

The industry minister also emphasized that the overarching goals of developing industry were not only to achieve sustainable and environmentally friendly development, but also to provide social benefits for current and future generations.

Indonesian companies have an opportunity to establish strategic alliances, explore new markets and pursue technology exchange with global partners at Hannover Messe 2024. With an emphasis on digital transformation, sustainability and Industry 4.0, Indonesia hopes to establish itself as a major force in shaping the direction of the global industry.

As the largest economy in Southeast Asia, Indonesia offers a diverse range of products, services and expertise. Indonesian companies plan to showcase their resilience, creativity and adaptability in addressing ever-changing global challenges across various sectors, from automotive and electronics to renewable energy and digital infrastructure.

The latest innovations presented through exhibitions, product demonstrations and interactive showcases provided an engaging experience for visitors to view the country's vibrant industry landscape and innovation ecosystem.

From cutting-edge technologies to sustainable solutions, Indonesia's participation in Hannover Messe 2024 underscores its commitment to driving economic growth, accelerating innovation and contributing to the advancement of global industry.

The trade fair serves as a platform for companies to display their featured products while exchanging knowledge and expertise with industry experts worldwide.
