he construction process of Terminal 2 at Hang Nadim International Airport in Batam officially commenced on May 30, with the targeted completion of the terminal set for 2026.
The total investment for the first phase of Terminal 2's development amounts to approximately Rp 2.4 trillion. Terminal 2 will span an area of 50,000 square meters. Meanwhile, the total investment for the development of Hang Nadim International Airport amounts to Rp 6 trillion, with construction taking place in stages.
In future plans, Hang Nadim International Airport will also construct additional aircraft ramps and a new apron, capable of accommodating up to 10 aircraft beyond its current capacity.
Terminal 2, built by PT Batam International Airport (BIB), a consortium of PT Angkasa Pura I - Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC), and PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk., will have a capacity of 9.6 million passengers per year.
During the inauguration event, Chairman of BP Batam, Muhammad Rudi, stated that not only Hang Nadim Batam Airport but also several vital facilities initially managed by BP Batam have been transferred to private entities. These include Batu Ampar Port, which has been handed over to a state-owned enterprise, as well as Batam Authority Hospital, among others.
Terminal 2 of Hang Nadim Batam Airport is one of the strategic infrastructure projects expected to increase airport capacity and attract more tourists and investors to Batam.
