The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) named Bogor Regent Ade Yasin and seven others, including officials from the Supreme Audit Agency’s (BPK) West Java office, suspects in a bribery case on Thursday.
ogor Regent Ade Yasin and seven other officials have been named suspects in a bribery case related to the alleged manipulation of the 2021 Bogor regency financial report's interim results.
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) made the announcement on Thursday, revealing the other seven suspects to be Maulana Adam and Rizki Taufik from the Bogor Public Works and Housing Agency, Ihsan Ayatullah from the Bogor Asset and Financial Management Body (BPKAD), as well as Anthon Merdiansyah, Arko Mulawan, Hendra Nur Rahmatullah Karwita and Gerri Ginanjar Trie Rahmatullah from the Supreme Audit Agency’s (BPK) West Java office.
KPK investigators had conducted sting operations in Bogor and Bandung, West Java, on Wednesday evening, during which they seized Rp 1.02 billion (US$70,718) allegedly used to bribe the four auditors from BPK West Java.
Ade stands accused of bribing them in exchange for an unqualified opinion (WTP) for Bogor regency’s 2021 financial report, said KPK chairperson Firli Bahuri.
Hendra, Ihsan and Maulana allegedly struck a deal in January to set up a team of auditors that would provide the recency officials with interim audit results based on their instructions. Ihsan and Maulana reportedly gave Anthon Rp 100 million in cash as part of the deal, Firli said.
According to the interim audit results, the Bogor regency has fulfilled all of BPK West Java's recommendations outlined in the 2020 report and no irregularities were found. In actuality, Firli said, the auditing team had found irregularities in a Rp 94.6 billion road improvement project in Pakansari, Bogor regency, during its audit between February and April.
He added that the regency officials were believed to have given the auditors more kickbacks during the auditing period.
