The Transportation Ministry has was warned of a degree of disruption to regular flight schedules at Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali ahead of the Group of 20 Summit meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday.

“We will do our best to balance the flow of state flights and regular flights, both domestic and international. There are around 35 countries participating in the events,” Novie Riyanto, the ministry’s secretary-general, said on Sunday in a statement as quoted by Tempo.

He said regular international flights were still being given maximum operational space because many of the international delegates are flying in on regular flights. Domestic flights to and from Bali, however, are being temporarily restricted.

“From Sunday to Friday, only Monday will be relatively packed [at the airport] due to the arrival of state officials on state flights. The rest of the days will be relatively normal,” Novie said.

Previously, the ministry appealed to the public to adjust their travel plans in relation to Bali as restrictions would be imposed on regular flights to and from Bali from Sunday to Friday.

On Thursday, Adita Irawati, Transportation Ministry spokesperson, said flight operations were prioritized for VVIP flights in accordance with regulatory provisions, while maintaining a limited number of regular flight operations.
