A KPU worker visited the President's official residence on Tuesday to verify his current domicile as a final step to registering him as a voter in the 2024 general election.
he General Elections Commission (KPU) has officially included President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo on its list of voters for the 2024 general election.
An election worker arrived on Tuesday at Merdeka Palace in Central Jakarta to conduct a final check on the President's current address before including him on the list of voters eligible to cast their ballots at Polling Station No. 10 in the mayoralty’s Gambir district.
"Yes, correct, I am Joko Widodo and I live here," Jokowi replied when the election worker asked about his place of domicile.
Speaking after the verification process, Jokowi encouraged would-be voters in the 2024 general elections to verify their data with the KPU.
"Please check your names on the list provided on the KPU's website. If you're not registered yet, please report to your local [KPU] office," the President said.
Earlier this month, the Central Jakarta District Court issued a verdict in a civil lawsuit that effectively postpones next year’s general election, scheduled for Feb. 14.
The lawsuit was brought by the Prima Party, a little-known political party formed in 2021 that has not participated in any election to date, which accused the election body of unfair treatment regarding its attempt to register for the 2024 elections.
