Esha became subject to scrutiny after screenshots of his wife's social media posts, including ones that appear to show her accepting several 24-carat gold bars, a luxury handbag and a car as an anniversary gift from Esha, circulated on Twitter.
he State Secretariat has suspended official Esha Rahmansah Abrar from his duties to facilitate an internal probe into his wealth, part of a wider crackdown on corruption sparked by public outrage over the ostentatious lifestyles of some civil servants.
State Secretariat spokesperson Eddy Cahyono Sugiarto said the suspension was intended to make the investigation into the sources of Esha's wealth easier.
"We have formed an internal investigative team to probe Esha's unreasonable wealth,” Eddy said in a press release on Sunday. “We will also work together with the Corruption Eradication Commission [KPK] and the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center [PPATK] and other related bodies to find comprehensive data on his wealth.”

The posts sparked a social media outcry, with observers claiming Esha's lifestyle did not fit with his role as an echelon IV official, a mid-level rank in the civil service.
Esha is the latest public official to be scrutinized by authorities for appearing to be suspiciously wealthy and showing off his lavish lifestyle on social media.
At least five other public officials are being investigated for suspected corruption after social media scrutiny. They are former tax official Rafael Alun Trisambodo, former Yogyakarta Customs and Excise Office head Eko Darmanto, Makassar Customs and Excise Office head Andhi Pramono, East Jakarta Tax Office head Wahono Saputro and East Jakarta Land Agency (BPN) head Sudarman Harjasaputra.
