he IX/Udayana Military Command (Kodam) has prepared 10,912 personnel and 2,598 primary weapons systems (alutsista) units to ensure the 2024 elections go safely, its commander said on Wednesday.

The personnel and equipment will be deployed for logistical needs, security and emergency readiness. They will be mobilized in Bali, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

Kodam IX/Udayana commander Maj. Gen. Harfendi said all elements of the military command were prepared to provide security during the polls and that personnel deployment was being coordinated with the local offices of the General Elections Commission (KPU) and the Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu).

“We are waiting for the decision from the KPU and Bawaslu regarding our deployment positions. So far, we have been on standby,” Harfendi said on the sidelines of a general election readiness roll call in Denpasar.

As for the alutsista being prepared, Harfendi said the equipment would be adjusted to the solders’ roles when assisting the police. The alutsista units did not only encompass weapons but also vehicles, such as motorcycles, buses and trucks.

The commander said the provinces under Kodam IX/Udayana were in a secure condition as the 2024 elections approached. He said all election-related activities were progressing well without any major problems.
