The leader of the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka national campaign team (TKN) said the candidate pair would watch the Under-17 FIFA World Cup final at Manahan Stadium in Surakarta, Central Java, this coming Saturday.

“This weekend, the U-17 World Cup final will be in Surakarta. Prabowo and Gibran will attend it,” said TKN chairman Rosan P. Roeslani on Tuesday, as quoted by state news agency Antara.

Rosan noted that Prabowo and Gibran’s attendance at the event would be one of their few joint appearances on the 2024 presidential election campaign trail.

The campaigning season kicked off on Tuesday and is set to last through Feb. 10, 2024, a few days before voters head to the ballot on Feb. 14.

Presidential candidate Prabowo, who is currently serving as the defense minister, and Gibran, who is the mayor of Surakarta, did not immediately start their campaign activities on the first day of the 75-day campaign period.

Gibran said he would focus on his duties as a mayor, which was why he had not requested leave to begin campaigning for vice president.
