Indonesia Decides

The Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka campaign spokesperson Arief Rosyid Hasan said the candidate pair would resume President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo's health service transformation policies if they won the 2024 election.

"The vision is to continue what President Jokowi has developed before and to perfect what is still lacking. Free medical checks are one example," Arief said on Wednesday, as quoted by Antara news agency.

Arief said there needed to be continuous implementation and updates of Jokowi's health service transformation policies, considering Jokowi could not implement the transformation perfectly during his second presidency.

The spokesman said the transformation policy was necessary to allow residents to access the best health care wherever they were.

He gave an example of a patient who is referred to Jakarta to get treatment, who would currently have to bear the costs of transportation and lodging while in Jakarta.

In addition, Arief said Prabowo and Gibran were committed to constructing new hospitals and their supporting facilities in every Indonesian regency as part of the eight quick wins offered by the pair.

“These include free medical checks, reducing TB [tuberculosis] cases by 50 percent in five years and building quality and complete hospitals at the regency level,” he said.
