Ridwan Kamil shared progress on the new capital city's projects after being appointed as the infrastructure curator on Tuesday.
ormer West Javba governor Ridwan Kamil met President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo at the Merdeka Palace on Tuesday to discuss his appointment as the curator of infrastructure for the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) project.
“Yes, I was given the mandate as the curator for IKN. Meaning that I will evaluate all the physical projects in IKN on behalf of the President,” Ridwan said after the meeting, as quoted by cnnindonesia.com.
Ridwan said he had given Jokowi several suggestions regarding improvements to the project, some of which are already under way.
Next week, Ridwan will join Jokowi to review the construction, with the former saying that around 10 to 12 projects will commence with groundbreaking ceremonies.
The President will also inaugurate several infrastructure projects, including hotels and apartment buildings.
“If we say that IKN project [funding] only comes from the state budget, well, not really. In fact, the groundbreaking of the construction of the projects came from private investment. This indicates that there is confidence,” said Ridwan, as quoted by tempo.co.
Furthermore, Ridwan, who is an architect, also shared the construction progress and development plans of other buildings and areas.
