His two opponents have more clearly defined positions on the administration of President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.
Presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo has said he neither opposes nor plans to unconditionally follow the current administration’s path, asserting that, if elected, he would attempt to achieve the goals he believes in.
At a meeting in Wonosobo, Central Java, on Monday, Ganjar said he would pursue “quick and excellent [results]”, as quoted by kompas.com.
His two opponents have more clearly defined positions on the administration of President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.
Presidential candidate Anies Baswedan is actively advocating for change, while candidate Prabowo Subianto, who has Jokowi’s oldest son Gibran Rakabuming Raka as his running mate, says he will carry on Jokowi’s policies.
Previously, Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) chairman and Jokowi’s youngest son Kaesang Pangarep questioned Ganjar’s unclear stance.
“I believe that Anies mentioned that everything he criticized [at the first presidential debate on Dec. 12] would undergo changes, and the same goes for Prabowo, who has a clear plan to continue [Jokowi’s policies]. However, I’m still uncertain about Ganjar’s position,” he said, as quoted by cnbcindonesia.com.
Commenting on the issue, Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) politician Aria Bima claimed Ganjar understood Jokowi’s vision and mission in a way that Prabowo and Gibran could not.
