Anies Baswedan criticized the sample ballots issued by the KPU for the presidential election simulation for only featuring two candidate pairs.
Presidential candidate Anies Baswedan has criticized the sample ballot paper issued by the General Elections Committee (KPU) for the 2024 presidential election simulation, which only displays two columns representing two candidate pairs.
Following an event at the Ciamis Islamic Center on Thursday, Anies reminded the KPU to create specimen ballots based on real situations.
"We don't need to play around like this; show [the ballot paper] as is," he said, as quoted by cnnindonesia.com news portal.
He said the KPU should have created specimen ballots according to the correct number of candidate pairs.
"If there are three candidates, list three candidates. If it's eight, list eight candidates. So why manipulate it like that? Don't disrespect the people," he said.
Similar sentiments were expressed earlier by Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) leaders in Surakarta, Central Java; and South Tangerang, Banten; who also objected to the specimen ballots issued by the KPU.
South Tangerang PDI-P leader Wanto Sugito said the incident displayed the KPU's lack of capacity.
