The Army is deploying logistics and health personnel following the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki in East Nusa Tenggara province to help residents sheltering in several evacuation centers.
he Army has deployed logistics and health units to assist residents fleeing the Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki eruption in Flores Timur regency, East Nusa Tenggara, a senior local officer said on Thursday.
Regional Military Command (Korem) 161/Wira Sakti chief Col. Simon Petru Kamlasi said that the deployed personnel were from the Logistics and Transportation Detachment (Denbekang) and the Regional Health Detachment (Denkesyah), as reported by Antara news agency.
Simon said the deployed soldiers consisted of small core teams specializing in supplies, transportation and health care. They will be assisted by personnel from the East Flores Military District Command (Kodim) in the affected areas.
The logistics team consists of five personnel and is led by Second Lt. Indra Dwi Utama, Simon said as quoted by tribunnews.com news portal.
The team is using a Mitsubishi PS120 truck to deliver three multipurpose tents, two platoon tents, two field kitchens, one compressor, a generator, 200 field chairs, rice and other logistical supplies.
The logistics team will set up the field kitchens to assist the Flores Timur regency administration in providing meals for residents affected by the eruption of Mt. Lewotobi Laki-Laki at evacuation points.
"One field kitchen can serve 1,000 people," Simon said.
