Vice presidential candidate Muhaimin Iskandar says that President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has the right to assess the election debate held on Sunday, however, Jokowi should maintain his neutrality in his comments.
Commenting on the third presidential debate, Jokowi said it heard arguments that were not productive but which were personal attacks on other candidates.
Speaking in Serang, Banten, Jokowi said the candidates could “attack” each other provided it revolved around policy and vision.
He believed that many people would be disappointed with the performances in the latest debate and asked for a better debate format.
"The President has the right to judge, but be careful not to take sides," said Muhaimin in South Lampung regency, Lampung, on Monday, as quoted by kompas.com.
Muhaimin claimed that the latest debate format did not need any improvements aside from the possible addition of speaking time to allow uninterrupted delivery of arguments.
Meanwhile, presidential candidate Anies Baswedan said he felt confused as to why Jokowi commented on the debate.
