Vice presidential candidate Muhaimin Iskandar said he would welcome public demonstrations if the Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin duo failed to fulfill expectations upon winning the 2024 presidential election.

Muhaimin said he and his running mate, presidential candidate Anies, did not want to offer empty promises.

"Tell all the people of East Java, Insya Allah [God willing], Anies-Muhaimin will never deceive [the public] in realizing our entire mission statement,” he said on Wednesday, as quoted by kompas.com.

“In fact, lead a demonstration if the Anies-Muhaimin ticket wins yet the pair does not fulfill expectations. Please express your demands as the people of East Java."

The National Awakening Party (PKB) chairman conveyed this during the Anies-Muhaimin East Java consolidation event attended by PKB members and volunteers at the DBL Arena in Surabaya.

During his speech, Muhaimin also spoke about teachers’ welfare in the country, which he said still required attention, particularly those who worked in the religious education sector, including in pesantren (Islamic boarding schools) and Quranic schools (TPQ).

"We also observe that teachers have not received their due recognition, meaning the welfare of teachers throughout Indonesia is still a matter of concern,” Muhaimin said.
