Halfway through the campaign season, another online platform has been launched to encourage public monitoring of the organizing of the February general election amid growing concerns over electoral fraud and the partiality of the state apparatus.

The website kecuranganpemilu.com (loosely translated as election fraud), launched on Sunday by a network of civil groups, allows people to report alleged foul play by election contenders and political parties or the state apparatus and election organizers.

Initiators of the project are NGOs the Association for Elections and Democracy (Perludem) and Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW), law firm Themis Indonesia, big data consulting firm Drone Emprit and journalist group the Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI).

“The public can participate in reporting election fraud on this website,” Khoirunnisa Nur Agustyati of Perludem said. “The website will not only display reported abuses of state resources [during the election process] but also alleged fraud committed by election organizers.”

Reports of alleged violations submitted to the website will be verified by a monitoring team of kecuranganpemilu.com within 24 hours and shown on an interactive map on the website. People can also keep an eye on the process of their report on the website.

The website had received six reports of alleged fraud by Friday, less than a week after it was launched for the public. They consist of two alleged criminal election violations in East Java, two in Maluku and one in Central Java, as well as an alleged ethics violation in Central Java.
