Presidential candidate Anies Baswedan pledged to provide daycare in offices and grant 40 days of paternity leave for husbands during the Desak Anies (Urge Anies) event, which had the theme of women, the environment and agriculture.

Anies expressed his hope for women to be able to work productively without worrying about their maternal responsibilities.

"This problem that has been lingering for years should just be resolved, so what can be done?” Anies said in Jakarta on Thursday, as quoted by detik.com news portal.

“We have to build daycare centers and qualified lactation rooms in workplaces to support working women so that they can work while still being able to take care of their children.'"

He also emphasized increasing paternity leave for fathers to 40 days during and after the birth of their children.

Fathers could use the leave to take care of their newborn child alongside the mothers, he said. This measure is expected to increase the father’s involvement in the early phase of the baby's birth.

"Paternity leave for husbands is usually only for two days in many workplaces. We want to change it to 40 days for husbands," said Anies, as quoted by cnnindonesia.com.
