Ganjar's campaign team is following up complaints by Indonesian migrant workers in Hong Kong on disruptions in voting process for the 2024 presidential election.
Presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo has said that the Ganjar-Mahfud national campaign team (TPN) was currently following up information that the voting process for the 2024 general election in Hong Kong is chaotic.
Indonesian migrant workers in Hong Kong have reported that they have not received the mailed ballots due their being sent to the wrong addresses.
"I have received many similar reports. Today, a former migrant worker conveyed that their friends in Hong Kong are currently voting and facing issues. So, we are continuously monitoring the situation," Ganjar said on Thursday, as quoted by Antara news agency.
He emphasized the commitment to thorough monitoring and investigation to ensure transparency, prevent concerns and provide necessary clarifications to maintain trust in the electoral process.
This issue was brought up by a former Indonesian migrant worker named Utrik during Ganjar’s campaign event in Plaosan district, Magetan regency, East Java, on Thursday.
Utrik said that many of her friends who were still working in Hong Kong had received mailed ballots for legislative and presidential elections.
However, many also were unable to participate in the 2024 elections after the ballots were mailed to the wrong address.
