Indonesia Decides

Presidential candidate and former Central Java governor Ganjar Pranowo said he believed President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s work visit to Central Java on Monday was not intended to take away his voters.

Ganjar added that his supporters in Central Java, which is a political stronghold for him and his party the Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), had always been welcoming to the President.

"No [the visit is not to take away voters], I saw a video earlier and [Jokowi] was welcomed. We from the PDI-P, and Ganjar-Mahfud [MD] supporters, also love Jokowi," Ganjar said in South Lampung regency, Lampung, on Monday, as quoted by kompas.com.

The former governor said his supporters were accustomed to maintaining fairness in the preparation for the upcoming election.

He also claimed he had no qualms with Jokowi visiting Central Java, which Ganjar visited two weeks prior.

"Yes, Jokowi often meets his grandchildren over the weekend as well as carrying out work visits. No problem,” he said.

“He is the President, so he can visit anywhere."
