Presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto will not resign as defense minister because there is no rule demanding a candidate leave their ministerial post, according to his spokesperson Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak.
Dahnil confirmed Prabowo’s decision to remain a minister during an interview on Wednesday at Graha Hartika Wulan Sari in Bekasi city, West Java, where he emphasized that the Gerindra founder was performing his duties well as the defense minister.
"If you see public satisfaction surveys, Prabowo is always in first position," said Dahnil, as quoted by detik.com.
Dahnil was also confident that President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo was satisfied with Prabowo's performance, adding that Prabowo aimed to complete his ministerial tasks.
During the Wednesday meeting at the Prabowo-Gibran Rakabuming Raka media center in Jakarta, the pair’s national campaign team (TKN) vice chairman Ahmad Muzani said the team had suggested that Prabowo complete his term.
"We advised Mr. Prabowo not to resign as defense minister,” Muzani said, as quoted by kompas.com.

Muzani said that during his presidential campaign, Prabowo knew when to take leave and when to fulfill his state duties. He ensured that there would be no conflict of interest even if Prabowo did not resign.
