Milki village in Keerom regency, Papua, is scheduled to hold supplementary voting on Friday after the voting materials arrived at the village on Thursday afternoon.
The General Elections Commission (KPU) held delayed voting on Friday in Milki village, Keerom regency, Papua.
Keerom KPU chair Melianus Gobay confirmed that the election materials had arrived to Milki Village on Thursday at around 2 p.m., after being transported on foot by local poll administrators (KPPS) and police officers escorting them.
"It is true, [the KPPS] officers, accompanied by members of the Keerom Police, had to walk through a river to reach Milki Village," said Melianus, as quoted by Antara news agency.
Meanwhile, Keerom Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Christian Aer said that he had not yet received any report about whether his officers had safely arrived, because of a lack of telecommunication signals.
Christian said that the communication could only be done after the police officers returned to Pris village following the logistics distribution.
The officers took 15 hours to reach Milki village. First, they rode motorcycles from Arso, the seat of Keerom regency, to Pris village for about 7 hours before continuing on foot to Milki village.
Apart from Milki village in Towe district, 36 polling stations across four regencies in Papua held delayed voting.
