Indonesia Decides

The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) plans to communicate with the campaign team of presidential and vice-presidential candidate pair No. 1, Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar.

They aim to discuss the formation of a special team focused on collecting various allegations of irregularities in the 2024 presidential election.

"We are in communication with team 01 [to form a special team]," PDI-P secretary-general Hasto Kristiyanto said at the PDI-P headquarters in Jakarta on Wednesday, as quoted by Antara news agency.

The PDI-P and the campaign team of Ganjar Pranowo and Mahfud MD ticket said they welcomed figures who wished to join in resolving fraudulent practices in the election.

"Thus, in the process, such as during the hearing at the Constitutional Court, these will be different pieces of evidence in the eyes of the law," Hasto said, as quoted by kontan.co.id.

Additionally, Hasto said his party was prepared to serve as the opposition, remaining outside the government following the 2024 general election.

He stated that he learned from the centralized power during President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s second term, which had allowed for manipulation. Thus, he said, power needed checks and balances from outside the government to provide criticism.
