N

usantara Capital City (IKN) infrastructure curator Ridwan Kamil says significant progress has been made on the new capital’s Core Government District (KIPP) and expects the district to be substantially completed within the next two months.

He added that the first phase of Nusantara’s construction was nearing 80 percent completion and that the phase would be finished in time for a planned Independence Day ceremony in August.

"Currently, the construction resembles a building missing its glass panels. Today, you are seeing just the structure. But when you return in two months, IKN will look like Jakarta, except that it will be situated within a forest," he said on Wednesday, as quoted by CNN Indonesia.

Ridwan noted that the city’s development plan did not aim to replicate Jakarta's skyscraper-filled skyline. Rather, the focus was on a “forest city” concept.

"I assure you, there will be green spaces from the ground to the rooftops, ensuring that buildings are not only smart but also sustainable. By achieving net-zero emissions, we can claim this design as world-class,” he said.

However, the former West Java governor cautioned that achieving his vision for Nusantara required a long-term approach, taking at least 25 years to fully realize the concept.
