T

he legal team representing an employee working for Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) secretary-general Hasto Kristiyanto has filed a report with the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) asking it to summons the National Police chief Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

The report centered on the seizure on Monday of a mobile phone belonging to Hasto's staff member, Kusnadi, by Adj. Sr. Comr. Rossa Purbo Bekti, a police officer seconded to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

Kusnadi's lawyer Petrus Selestinus argued the seizure was procedurally flawed because Kusnadi was not connected to Hasto as a witness in the case of bribery suspect Harun Masiku who is still on the run.

"These items are unrelated to the case. This constitutes a legal violation and a human rights infringement," Selestinus said on Wednesday, as reported by tempo.co.

Selestinus planned to present five witnesses to Komnas HAM, all part of Hasto's legal team in the KPK investigation. He urged Komnas HAM to promptly question the proposed witnesses.

The legal team also urged Komnas HAM to call upon Listyo regarding the case, as the investigator who seized Kusnadi's phone is a police officer working for the KPK.
