ine regencies and one city in Aceh have been hit by floods following heavy rainfall in the past few days, affecting close to 30,000 people in the province, the Aceh Disaster Management Agency (BPBA) reported on Monday.

BPBA chief Teuku Nara Setia said a total of 29,540 residents have been impacted by the flooding, with 1,259 being forced to evacuate.

He said flooding has hit areas in North Aceh, Southeast Aceh, Gayo Lues, Southwest Aceh, South Aceh, Aceh Singkil, Nagan Raya, East Aceh, Aceh Tamiang and Subulussalam city.

According to BPBA data, the flooding in North Aceh affected 37 villages in two districts. In Southeast Aceh, 80 villages in 12 districts were impacted.

"The water level in Southeast Aceh reached 1 meter. The water is starting to recede and the Gayo Lues-Kutacane road is now passable, but the breached levee is still under repair," Nara said as quoted by Antara.

In Southwest Aceh, flooding affected two villages in two districts, while in South Aceh, eight villages in four districts were impacted. In Nagan Raya, 21 villages in four districts were affected and in Gayo Lues, three villages in three districts were flooded.
