West Java gubernatorial candidate Dedi Mulyadi and his running mate Erwan Setiawan have held onto a strong lead in three key regions of the province ahead of the upcoming regional election, with more than half of respondents in those areas saying they support the pair.
Three surveys by three different pollsters conducted earlier this month in Depok city, Bogor regency and Tasikmalaya showed the Dedi-Erwan ticket leading with the support of 61.9 percent, 72 percent and 75.3 percent of respondents in the respective regions.
Indikator Politik Indonesia conducted the survey in Depok, polling 400 respondents of voting age in the city from Oct. 3 to 12.
In the survey, 61.9 percent of the respondents said they supported former Purwakarta regent and Gerindra Party politician Dedi and former Sumedang deputy regent Erwan, followed by 26.8 percent supporting Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) chairman Ahmad Syaikhu and running mate Ilham Akbar Habibie, the eldest son of late president BJ Habibie.
Trailing behind them were former lawmaker Acep Adang Ruhiat and running mate Gitalis Dwi Natarina with 5.8 percent, as well as former Pangandaran regent Jeje Wiradinata and entertainer Ronal Surapradja with 2.8 percent. The remaining 2.5 percent of Depok respondents were undecided.
The Bogor survey, meanwhile, conducted by the Indonesia Survey Circle LSI Network also found the Dedi-Erwan ticket dominating with 72 percent of voter support, following by the Syaikhu-Ilham ticket with 9.5 percent, the Acep-Gita ticket with 4.3 percent and the Jeje-Ronal ticket with 1.4 percent.
The Tasikmalaya survey, conducted by Saiful Mujani Research from Oct. 15 to 19, showed Dedi-Erwan leading with 75.3 percent, followed by Acep-Gita with 9.8 percent, Syaikhu-Ilham with 8.3 percent and Jeje-Ronal with 1.2 percent.
