P

rabowo Subianto is to host the first gathering of his presidency at Merdeka Palace in Central Jakarta for the first day of Idul Fitri on Monday, when he is expected to welcome state officials and foreign diplomats, as well as members of the general public.

The Idul Fitri gathering, often called “open house”, is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. after the President performs the Idul Fitri prayers at nearby Istiqlal Mosque, according to Yusuf Permana, deputy for protocol, press and media at the Presidential Secretariat.

“This event serves as a gathering for President Prabowo to connect with government officials, foreign ambassadors, national figures and the public,” Yusuf said in a statement on Sunday.

"This also serves as a social symbol to break down barriers and foster a sense of family and togetherness on this sacred day,” he added.

The open house is the first to be held at Merdeka Palace since Prabowo took office in October.

The public will be allowed entry through the gate to the State Secretariat on Jl. Majapahit, off the northwest corner of National Monument (Monas) Square.
