nly one company in Riau Islands province is permitted to export live chicken to Singapore after meeting stringent requirements set by the Singapore Food Agency (SFA), Riau Islands Food Resilience, Agriculture and Veterinary Agency head Rika Azmi has said.

“Currently the export license is very limited,” she told The Jakarta Post on Wednesday.

“So far only PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia has approvals from the Indonesian Agriculture Ministry and the SFA after meeting the standards to export live chickens.”

Rika said no other companies from the province had applied for export licenses although the provincial administration would fully support any companies that met SFA requirements.

“We will support any companies as long as they meet SFA requirements,” she said.

Rika was commenting on the shipment of live chickens by PT Indojaya Agrinusa, a subsidiary of Japfa, on Monday.
