Jakarta Police spokesperson Adj. Sr. Comr. Reonald Simanjuntak confirmed Fransiska’s detention on Thursday.
“We have questioned nine witnesses and an expert. She has been detained, which means she is already named a suspect in the case,” Reonald said on Thursday, as quoted by state news agency Antara.
The investigation into Fransiska was launched following a report filed by PT Media Inspirasi Bangsa (MIB) to the Jakarta Police on Jan. 10, according to MIB attorney Aldi Rizki in a statement on Thursday.
In the police report, MIB accused Mecima Pro of violating Articles 378 and/or 372 of the Criminal Code on fraud and embezzlement for funding given by the company to the promoter.
Both companies had a cooperation agreement for TWICE’s “Ready To Be” concert at the Jakarta International Stadium in North Jakarta on Dec. 23, 2023, according to a statement issued by MIB on Thursday, with no further details on the cooperation written in the release.
“Our client attempted to settle the matter amicably through mediation and legal notice, but received no positive response,” Aldi said, adding that MIB suffered financial losses amounting to tens of billions of rupiah.
