he North Sumatra Police have relieved Muara Batang Gadis Police sub-precinct station chief First Insp. Akmaluddin from his duty after residents burned the sub-precinct station over allegations that he released a suspected drug dealer.
Meanwhile, the police rearrested drug dealer Romadon, who had escaped from the sub-precinct’s detention cell and triggered the residents’ anger and the burning of the police sub-precinct on Dec. 20.
North Sumatra Police chief spokesman Sr. Comr. Ferry Walintukan said the dismissal of the Muara Batang Gadis Police sub-precinct station was part of an internal evaluation process in the National Police to respond to various dynamics in the field.
Ferry said for the time being the sub-precinct station chief post would be held by Second Insp. Samsuri, who previously held the position as the Integrated Police Service Center head at the Mandailing Natal Police.
“First Insp. Akmaluddin has been relieved from his duty as Muara Batang Gadis Police sub-precinct station chief after the arson incident. The temporary police sub-precinct chief is Second Insp. Samsuri,” he said on Tuesday.
“Suspected drug dealer Romadon was rearrested on the border between North Sumatra and West Sumatra on Monday.”
He said that Romadon is currently being detained at Mandailing Natal Police headquarters for further investigation.
