he Yogyakarta City Police have uncovered an international online scam syndicate after raiding its suspected base of operations on Monday in neighboring Sleman regency, Yogyakarta province.
Yogyakarta City Police chief Sr. Comr. Eva Guna Pandia said officers raided a two-story shophouse on Jl. Gito Gati in Donoharjo village, Ngaglik district, and found an international “love scam” operation capable of generating up to Rp 30 billion ($1.7 million) per month.
"The syndicate operated under the guise of a service company named PT Altair Trans Service and employed around 200 Indonesians to carry out the scam," Eva said on Wednesday, as quoted by Antaranews.
